Thruxton Race Course - A day in the pits - 10

Description

Thruxton was a great opportunity, and a great chance to get up and close with some the touring cars of the UK circuit...for the first time! We were lucky enough to have a friend who knew one of the managers at the Honda pit team, giving me a chance to get up and close and see all the action that punters don't normally get a chance with. He offered to let me come in and take photos, getting a chance to capture all the nitty gritty action, from the mechanics preparing the cars, to the drivers and the race itself, even getting a chance to meet Murray Walker, the racing commentator (or at least stand next to him Sweating a little...getting to watch his interview).
This was a really good chance, a perfect opportunity and a great start for the Band and events portfolio, the manager offered me the chance to take photos for the Honda team, a good way to get the foot in the door professionally, hopefully giving me the opportunity to do some work for them in the future (which considering the camera upgrade, is much more plausible, the then D80 and the now D800, a class above and 10 years newer).

Loved the day, and hope to get more involved with the sport in the future, an easy move from wildlife photography (big lenses, fast action, little chance of success... Sweating a little...), and great fun, as well as the added benefit of sitting down and having a pint + getting a chance to see all the action...and maybe even a crash XD

A nice shot from out on the track back into the pits just catching another priceless expression... :XD: Loved the team!! :D

Hope you like the pics, check out some more from the series here: the story continues…

Nice shot, my friend! ;P

You know, sometimes in comics or movies shots, they'll intentionally leave part of a subject off the screen to make it more dynamic. Just wondering if that's what you were aiming for in the pic! Also I realize you shot this pic at a moment's notice, and in that sense, it looks excellent considering that! The colorful touring cars, the angled view of the pitstops, and the slight tilt in the shot just makes it all the more unique! :D

Glad to see you had a blast getting a rare chance to see the"behind the scenes"of the touring event! ;)

Keep up the great work! ;P
