Description
Thruxton was a great opportunity, and a great chance to get up and close with some the touring cars of the UK circuit...for the first time! We were lucky enough to have a friend who knew one of the managers at the Honda pit team, giving me a chance to get up and close and see all the action that punters don't normally get a chance with. He offered to let me come in and take photos, getting a chance to capture all the nitty gritty action, from the mechanics preparing the cars, to the drivers and the race itself, even getting a chance to meet Murray Walker, the racing commentator (or at least stand next to him getting to watch his interview).
This was a really good chance, a perfect opportunity and a great start for the Band and events portfolio, the manager offered me the chance to take photos for the Honda team, a good way to get the foot in the door professionally, hopefully giving me the opportunity to do some work for them in the future (which considering the camera upgrade, is much more plausible, the then D80 and the now D800, a class above and 10 years newer).
Loved the day, and hope to get more involved with the sport in the future, an easy move from wildlife photography (big lenses, fast action, little chance of success... ), and great fun, as well as the added benefit of sitting down and having a pint + getting a chance to see all the action...and maybe even a crash
The image I was waiting for ;D getting that 'drifting round the corner' feel, love this shot! As always theres always issues, but this is to be expected when panning sports cars with a 500mm lens still, fav pan from the shoot! Tell me what you guys think
Hope you like the pics, check out some more from the series here: the story continues…

What about colour splash, try adding it ,so that picture will shine more, and be more focused on both the race and motion
